Rick Riordan’s fantasy novel series Percy Jackson & The Olympians is being brought to life next year by Chris Columbus.

The director of the first two Harry Potter films is tackling another magical teen in form of Perseus ‘Percy’ Jackson (Logan Lerman), who discovers he is a demigod – the son of Poseidon and a mortal mother.

When Zeus’ lightning bolt gets stolen, Percy becomes the prime suspect. He and his friends embark on a huge adventure to clear his name, and save Percy’s family from the mythological creatures that have come to life, including Uma Thurman’s Medusa.

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief is released in cinemas 12th February 2010 – watch the trailer below!

- It looks good, like they didn’t murder it too badly! Yays!! Except I didn’t like the part in the preview where Grover tells Percy to click the pen because Percy’s actually supposed to uncap the pen but that’s a small detail and doesn’t matter too much!

- Hey I personally don’t like it. okay? i just think they shouldn’t make annabeth have brown hair. SHE HAS BLONDE HAIR!!!!!!!! AND I READ THE SERIES!!!!!!!!!! I am disappointed. VERY I mean When EVER in the book was percy in a swimming pool with water!!!!!!!???????? Oh I am going to watch it and maybe like it and maybe not. This is just SAD.

- It looks pretty cool and i agree that annabeth should have blond hair but still i like how mrs.dodds is a lot scarier in the movie. i hope they make movies for all the books!

  True, Annabeth should have been blonde with curly hair and a deep tan, and she looks too old, ( it is a bit disappointing) but heck, who cares?

- To be honest it looks really good, but i think i soeak for all PErcy JAckson fans that we all pictured grover white, with curly hair, acne, and a limp from the hooves but it just would help get into the movie a little more. And congrats Mr. Riordan on your success!
